Bell Straw Marquetry for ClassiCon (2024)

The traditional craft of straw marquetry is used in the production of this new tabletop of our Bell Table for ClassiCon. For this, high-quality straws are dyed, split open and rolled flat and then manually glued, strip by strip, onto a thin carrier plate. In order to protect the delicate straw pattern of the tabletop, it is encased in glass, using a complex process. This process also enhances the straw‘s natural sheen and thus the visual depth of the pattern. Each straw tabletop is a unique piece due to the natural grain of the straw. Variations in colour and structure are possible.
