Tupies for Ames (2024)
With the Tupies collection for Ames we create a playful balancing act between luminous objects and human shapes, regional fashion, and cosmopolitan centerpiece. We have been inspired by the diverse textiles of the various indigenous communities in the Amazon region during one of his trips to Colombia. Curití, a weaving town in the north of the country, is famous for its vibrant colors and rich variety of fabrics. To capture the unique spirit of the region, local artisans worked with Colombia's fique fiber, which is obtained from a type of agave, and dyed it in shades such as burgundy red, olive green or deep blue. The fibers were then woven into fringed skirts made from macramé braids - which presented our and Ames with "a myriad of challenges".
